Mrs. Hankinson to me. When we moved to Weymouth I was 6 years old, Vera befriended my Mum at church which led to my meeting Roger. Between that long friendship, and Miss Lent's rhythm band held at the Hankinson house, I was there a lot. Memories of her kitchen; a playroom; pulling taffy candy; I still have strange dreams of their huge house and the vacant upper rooms in which we occasionally played; playing with a lamb .... lots of memories. Like my Family, she too had recently moved to Weymouth, and one understood the often spoken references to another place (Middleton and Bridgetown) and earlier younger times - moves are not just hard on children. But she was a "do'er for her community" as her obit testifies - a busy woman and one I will never forget.
Roger and Family - my thoughts are with you at this sad time.

I am very sorry to hear of Vera's passing.
We first met when my grandmother (who had known Vera as a child) moved to Crosskill Court.
Myself, my husband and children all enjoyed visiting all the ladies when down to see Barney, but Vera was a stand out.
Best Wishes- Angela, Tony, Shannon and Paddy Quinn

To the Hankinson family,
I would want to extend my sympathy on the passing of Vera Bruce Hankinson. Several years ago, when involved in a musical event at Mountain Lea Lodge, I met this charming lady and realized where Dave had acquired his good looks and pleasant manner. It was quite an accomplishment to have reached 100+ years of age.

My Mom and Vera were great friends while at Cross kill Court and Mountain Lea Lodge. We always made a point of spending time with her. Somewhere our family has a picture of Vera and Victor (my brother in law) who were both nurses. A great fun woman who will be missed.
