Geraldine Evonne Morine, 67, of Upper Clements, died on Sunday, Nov. 16. Deannie was the daughter of Atlee Buckler and Gladys Potter of Bear River East. She is survived by her best friend and love, William Wamboldt, daughter Dawn Thomas (Jonathan), son Audy Morine (Gabrielle) and two beautiful granddaughters, Katherine and Ella. She leaves behind her beloved sister Kaye Vroom and brothers Victor Buckler and Carel Buckler (Eleanor) and many cherished nieces and nephews. Deannie worked as a gardener and seamstress at CFB Cornwallis and later worked at Convergys. She had an incredible eye for detail and put love and attention in everything she did. She taught Sunday school to the children of the Bear River Baptist church, was a cub leader and later taught tai chi to calm that hearts of people in the area. She passed on her passion for sewing and children through Kids Can Sew, opening a sewing classroom in her home and holding entertaining fashion shows. Deannie laughed cheerfully and irresistibly. She found peace and connection with God in her beautiful flower gardens. Deannie loved Sydney Crosby. She loved to dance. She loved to drive around the countryside by Billy's side in Clifford, the big red truck. She loved a beer at the end of a sunny summer day. Deannie lived gracefully with Alzheimer's disease in her last few years but it was not without its challenges. She allowed her illness to be a model for others and shared her journey openly. She held on to her family and many friends to the end. A celebration of Deannie's life will be held at the Clementsport Legion on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. Donations in memory can be made to the Annapolis Community Health Centre Palliative Care Program.
