Obituary of Edward Avard Rice

Edward Avard Rice, age 79, of Cornwallis Park passed away at home on November 3, with his wife by his side. She lost a wonderful, loving, caring husband. Ed was born in Granville Ferry, on August 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Bessie (Orde) Rice. Ed was one of a kind – the best. He saw the best in all people, and never asked the world for anything, always pleased with what he had. Ed was a hard worker, who worked hard his entire life. His family was number one with him. He loved his home, his flower garden - especially his roses, bowling, music – always looking forward to Jam nite, and he loved his cats, especially "Oreo". He was a caring father and always there for his children, also a great father inlaw, whos one on one chats will be greatly missed at family get-togethers. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; sons, Christopher (Laura) of Dartmouth, Kenneth (Peter Fenten) of Dartmouth; daughters, Margaret Ann (Mike Cook) Rice – Reid of Clementsvale, Elizabeth (Shane) Rice – Gidney of Halifax; sister, Kathleen Jones of Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Robert. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal. A celebration of life will be held at Cornwallis Community Centre (Felker Hall) On Saturday November 8, at 2pm with Rev. Nathan Waterman officiating. A graveside service will follow for family and close friends in Forest Hill Cemetery, Digby. Family flowers only. Donations may be sent to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
