Gidney, Donald Douglas, 88 of New Edinburgh formerly of Bridgetown passed away Sunday September 12, 2010 in the Digby General Hospital, Digby. Born in Mink Cove, Digby Co. he was a son of the late Wilfred and Gussie Mae (Dahlgren) Gidney. Don was an electrician and plumber most of his life. He is survived by daughters: Louise (Emery) Gavel of Weymouth, Donna (Robert) Beattie of New Edinburgh; sons: Douglas (Sandy) of Weymouth, Gary (Sue) of Dartmouth; adopted children Veronica Deveau of Church Point, Anthony (Wendy) of New Brunswick; step-son Stanley Dehlgren of Saint John, N.B.; step daughter Virginia Hatt of Chester; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Joyce (Eric) Marshall of Cape Cod,Mass.; Joan Connell of B.C.. Don was predeceased by his wife Carol, daughter Donna Lee, grandsons: Robbie and Bobbie, brothers: Clifton, Sam and Wilfred. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday September 24, 2010 in the Centrelea Baptist Church with Pastor David Cumby officiating. Interment of both Donald and Carol will follow in the Centrelea Cemetery. Donations in memory may be sent to the Centrelea Baptist Church or to the Centrelea Cemetery.
