Sanford, Oliver Allan - We the family announce the death of Oliver Allan Sanford, 83, of Hillsburn, Annapolis County, Thursday May 29, 2014, in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Born in Clementsvale February 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Reta (Fraser) Sanford. His early years were spent working on the family farm, lumber camps and various other jobs. Also fishing out of Digby and Georges Bank. He served with the Canadian Coast Guard out of Dartmouth for 25 years before retiring in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise (Longmire); sons, David of Hillsburn, his children, Aaron (Melanie) and Evan (Medayah); Paul (Holly) of Annapolis Royal, their children, Abby and Gregory; daughter, Valarie (Ian) Lawrence and their children, Alexandra and Quinton; brother, Laurie (Mary) Landsdown; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Sanford of Caledonia and Anna Sanford of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Truman (Evelyn), Cyril and Malcom. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 pm Sunday, June 1st, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held 2 pm, Monday, June 2, 2014, in Hillsburn Baptist Church, with Pastors Jack and Audrey Carter officiating, assisted by Pastor Herb Anderson.
