Rankin (Allen), Erma Christina, passed away peacefully in the Annapolis Community Health Center, Annapolis Royal. Erma was born in Truro, the youngest daughter of the late Herman Dane Geddes and Christina Minerva (Allen) Geddes. Her family moved to Halifax when she was a younger child and Erma grew up in the South end. She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School where she played a prominent role in the school's drama club. That was the beginning of a lifelong love of the theatre, which took her all over the world. Erma also loved basketball. A passion she took to the court as a proud member of the Dalhousie women's basketball team. Erma graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English literature. She went on to work at the Royal Bank of Canada and at GMAC. In 1951 she married John Robert Buckler Rankin and had three children: John Robert James, Roxanne Christina, Melissa Jane. Tragically Roxanne died at two months of age. After her children grew up, Erma returned to the workforce, joining the payroll office at Mount St. Vincent University. Over the course of 17 years, Erma made many friends at the university and rose to become its Payroll Officer. After retiring in the early 1980's, Erma moved to Belleisle, Nova scotia to live with her daughter Melissa and her husband Dale Young. Erma took an active role in raising their four children. Erma is predeceased by her ex-husband John and her daughter Roxanne. She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Julia Mary Wyeth of Regine and their daughter Sarah. Her daughter Melissa and her husband Dale Warren Young of Belleisle and their children: Ryan Christopher James (wife Jennifer) of Bedford, Warren Keith Roy (partner Lindsay) of Sarnia, Ont., Jessica Jane of Red deer and Jason Dale Young of Belleisle. Great grandchildren Olivia Erin and Landon James Young ; her sister Ruth Goddard of Montreal. Her nieces Cynthia Duggan (husband Stephen) of Halifax, Dianne Croker (husband Bill) of Aurora, Ont., Pamela Goddard of Montreal; cousins Eric Allen (wife Joanne) of Middleton and Jean Black (Allen0 of Lunenburg.
