Rice, Curtis LeRoy, 94, of Bear River passed away August 11, 2013 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Morganville he was a son of the late Robert and Mary Ann ( Darres) Rice. He was employed as a firefighter at CFB Cornwallis for 27 years. He was a Life member of the Bear River Fire Dept where he was a member for 58 years and many of those years as the Chief. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed the woods, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and gardening. He especially liked going to his camp at Daniels Lake. Curtis is survived by daughters: Angela (John) Wright of Virginia East, Lisa ( Jack) Potter of Greenland, son: Laurie ( Paula) of Barnes Lake, grandchildren: Scott, Nicky, Bethany, Blake, Step grandchildren: Chris, Amanda, Michelle; great grand children: Kyle, Brianna, Mia, Spencer; step great grandchildren: Ryder, Gage and Mason; sister: Marie Cox of Dartmouth, sister-in-law Rosalind Rice of Bear River, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Clara Joyce; brothers: Joe, Murray , Tom, William, Chipman and Lloyd; sisters: Grace, Dolly and Evelyn. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River.
