Elizabeth Czarina (Monies) Ross, 85, died suddenly and with little pain of a lifelong heart condition, July 06, 2013, at home in Annapolis Royal, NS. Elizabeth was born in Hebron, Yarmouth, NS to Major Sidney and Jean (Angus) Monies on December 15, 1927. She attended Edgehill School in Windsor, NS, Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax, and graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Her first career was as a professional photographer recognized by publishing and awards for her skill. Her 17 year distinguished career as Executive Director of the Federation of Nova Scotia Heritage helped bring together the vibrant provincial heritage community that endures here today. She was a loving, joyful, and dedicated mother of Robert and Nicholas. She enjoyed painting as well as reading, music, history and travel. She held a deep love of the natural world. Generous, principled, warm and strong, Elizabeth fostered personal and career confidence in many who worked with her and many who knew her as a friend. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Greville Maxwell Briers, and her brother Robin Monies. Elizabeth is survived by her sister Sylvia (Mark) Yeoman, of Granville Ferry, NS; and sons Robert and Nicholas Ross, both of Halifax, NS. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. A Memorial Service will be held in St Luke's Anglican Church on July 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM, in Annapolis Royal, NS, with Canon Vaughan officiating. All welcome.
