Madelyn Isabelle (Ellis) Janes - Mom died peacefully surrounded by her family on Mother's Day, May 12th, 2013 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a very brief illness. Born in Middleton on July 11, 1938, Mom was the second youngest of seven children born to Odber and Elsie Ellis. She spent most of her childhood growing up in Granville Ferry where she met the "love of her life" Ralph (Jess) Janes, while he was stationed at CFB Cornwallis. He swept her off her feet and they were married in 1956. She became a military wife and made a beautiful home wherever their postings took them. She made a lot of life-long friends through-out their military years (many of whom remain today). After Dad retired they moved back to Granville Ferry to enjoy the next step of their lives together. Mom raised three children and then went out to work for Canada Post - a job she loved, as she got to meet so many wonderful people. Once she retired she became a "full-time Socialite" for all her friends and family, playing bridge, bowling, hosting pot lucks with "the girls", working with the Anglican Church Women and much more!! Family and friends were the most important things in Mom's life. She is survived by her three children, Teresa (Terry) Mahoney, Jackie (Billy) Morash and Wayne (Charlotte) Janes; her six grandchildren, Adam and Alyson Mahoney; Whitney (Brian) Parker and Alex Morash; Courtney (Fiancee Marc MacIntosh) Janes and Ethan Janes; her great-granddaughter Ella; her sisters and brothers, Jack (Doreen) Ellis, Dolores (Gerry) Fleet, Phil (Jean) Ellis, Patsy Whitlock, Jane (Ron) Downie; sisters-in-law, Lucille Ellis and Dorothy (John) Hudson and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband Ralph (Jess) in 1996, brother Carl Ellis, and brother-in-law Gordon Whitlock. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal where visitation will be held Friday, May 17th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Service will be held on Saturday, May 18th in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal at 11:00am, reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
