Obituary of Ethel (Durling) Haight

Kaulbach Family Funeral Home Obituary Haight, Ethel Louise (Durling), 88, of Bridgetown passed away peacefully November 11, 2012, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Melford and Alma (Lewis) Haight, of Barton. Ethel derived great joy form time spent with her family and continually demonstrated an unwavering faith, even during her lengthy illness. A devoted Christian, she encouraged her family in a walk of faith and for that they are eternally grateful. She attended St. James Anglican Church and was a member of the ACW and TOPS. She loved writing poetry, doing crafts, quilting, needlepoint, playing the harmonica (with coaxing) and was a great cook. Many cherished family memories were made around her table. She is survived by her husband of eight years, Stuart; daughters, Doreen (Wayne) Grant-Hall of Deep Brook and Maureen (Robert) Newman of Litchfield; granddaughters, Heather (Keith) Grant of New Victoria and Tammy Newman of Saint John, N.B.; grandson, Scott (Sheri) Grant of Baxter's Harbour; great grandchildren, Abigail, Eric, Faith, Joe, and Kate; sister, Audrey Buckler of Berwick. She was predeceased by her first husband of 51 years, Gerald Malcolm Durling; brothers, Earle, Ray, Ellery and David Haight; sister, Iris Harwick, and sister in infancy; grandson, Robert Newman. A visitation will be held 7-9 pm Wednesday from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bridgetown. A funeral service will be held 2p.m. Thursday November 15th, 2012, from the St. James Anglican Church, Bridgetown, with Rev. Joel Hardy officiating, assisted by Father Fred Hinxman. Burial will follow in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Bridgetown. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for their kindness and care during her time as a resident. Donations in Ethel's memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church or Mountain Lea Lodge.
