Littlewood, Boyd Edwin - 92, Port Royal, Annapolis Co, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in his home; the same home in which he was born, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late John and Rose (Ring) Littlewood. After school he became a fisherman for a few years and at age 20 joined the Canadian Navy. During the Second World War he served on various ships on convoy duty in the North Atlantic and on the Murmansk Run. After leaving the navy he took carpentry courses and worked in the Kentville area for several years. Upon moving back to his home, Boyd became employed as a carpenter at CFB Cornwallis and worked there for thirty years. For the last ten of those years he managed the Boat Shed at the Annapolis Causeway, where sea cadets trained. Boyd never lost his love for the sea. In his spare time he fished lobster and built and tended his own fishing weir. He enjoyed wood working and upon retirement spent many happy hours in his shop crafting whirligigs and wind spinners. His shop was also a gathering spot where friends and relatives visited on a regular basis. Boyd took great pride in his garden and was happy to give away produce. He made the best apple cider; and rarely missed his nightly games of cribbage. He was a member of the Order of Good Cheer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Phyllis (Riordan); daughters, Ellen Littlewood, Port Royal; Constance "Connie" (Orest) Kryschuk, Winnipeg; Anne (Murray) Carruthers, Digby; son, John (Josette) Littlewood, Comeauville; grandchildren, Jennifer and David Kryschuk, Winnipeg; Jenna Littlewood. Toronto. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by brother, Irvine; sisters, Helen and Maude. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Annapolis Royal.
