Porter, Margaret "Barney" Elizabeth - 98 of Bridgetown, passed away July 13, 2012. Affectionately known by her nickname "Barney" that her father had given her as a young child. Born in Bridgetown in the living room of the home she lived in her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Emily (Patterson) and Forest Connell. Barney lived a full life. She was a life-long member of Gordon providence United Church and the Liberal Party of Canada, and was a tireless volunteer for numerous organizations and individuals. Barney was an extremely kind and funny lady and lover of cats. She enjoyed over 60 years with her husband Bob who predeceased her April 24, 2000. She is survived by son, Michael Porter, Bridgetown; granddaughter, Angela Quinn (Tony), Halifax, Alisa Measham (Mark), Ontario; great grandchildren, Shannon and Paddy Quinn, Tyler and Jason Porter; many beloved nieces and nephews. Barney was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob"; brother, Charles "Charlie" Connell; sisters, Dorothy "Dot" McEwan and Evelyn "Pat" Lawrence; her precious young grandson, Timothy Porter. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday with funeral service 2:30 p.m. Tuesday both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with Rev. Janis Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Donations in memory may be sent to the William Black United Church or to Mountain Lea Lodge.
