Rev. David Cumby, BBC Pastor 2009-2013, (and his wife Barbara) send our sincere condolences to Son Charles, Daughters Carolyn & Nancy; Brother John and Sisters Marcia & Audrey; and the extended grand & great-grand children on Lew's passing.
Along with our deep regret that due to travel out of province, we were unable to attend today's service.
I am enclosing below these further words of tribute that I posted a few days ago to the Bridgetown Baptist Church Fave book Page:
"Lew was an respected scholar in his field(s) of endeavour; but more importantly a loving and devoted Son/brother, & husband to Dorothy, Father to his children and Grandfather his "many" GC & GGC who so fondly loved & look to him. And above all a Brother and Mentor in Christ, and a Friend to all he met, who lived in his thoughtful and humble faith in such a winsome way, that you never left a conversation with Lew (or Dorothy too) without feeling encouraged and appreciated!"
Love and hope in Christ, our salvation & hope "through it all"! ~ Dave & Barb(ie)

Uncle Lew was one of the kindest and most gentle souls I have had the pleasure of knowing. I am grateful for the time that I was lucky enough to spend with him on his trips to Barbados and will treasure those memories for my lifetime. All my love.

I never heard Uncle Lew say an unkind word about anyone and I can never recall seeing him angry. With a smile, he always had a kind word or a thoughtful suggestion and in his quiet way he managed to impart good advice. He and Auntie Sis were a great example of what a marriage should be, they worked together as a team and cared for and supported each other. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and as a part of his extended Barbados family we always enjoyed their visits.

Lew was genuinely a lovely man. He was always a good listener, and our family go-to for advice, especially with gardening! A dedicated husband and family man, he and Dorothy raised their children in faith and love everywhere they lived. In later years they made time to reconnect with their siblings on adventures both home and away, which also afforded Charlie, Carolyn and Nancy valuable time with their cousins. After Dorothy passed Lew seemed to slow down, but continued to enjoy the blessings of his extended family and the community he loved. His community loved him in return. Like Dorothy, we were lucky to have Lew in our family. We will miss his presence, in all ways.
With much love and sympathy from the Wade family.

My condolences to all of Lew's family. He and his wife experienced a very good life together.
It was through curling that I got to know Lew. Although we had different, but vibrant professional careers, it was that connection plus curling that brought us together. Towards the end he wanted to curl, and I was fortunate to be part of the Tuesday & Thursday morning times at the rink that he participated. It was a pleasure & an honour to have known Lew.

Whenever asked about who, during your life, has been influential and significant, it would be Lew, along with his wife Dorothy, who always come to mind. They entered our lives during the critical teen years as our church youth leaders in Grimsby, Ontario. That was a huge task to take on week after week, even taking us away each summer to go camping for the weekend. They lead in humility and with Godly wisdom and we always knew we were loved and cared for by their words, actions and prayers.
We knew Lew was more than dedicated to us when he continued to play floor hockey despite his glasses being knocked off his face and sustaining bruises on more than one occasion. Their home, as well, was always open to us and you always felt that, if needed, you could talk to them about anything. Lew and Dorothy were like our second set of parents during those years.
To you, Charlie, Carolyn and Nancy, we say a heartfelt thank you and offer you and all your dear family our sincerest condolences. Thank you for your graciousness in sharing both your parents and your home with us. We now know that God was building His kingdom in our hearts so that we would learn, in turn, how to do the same for others.
With deepest sympathy,
John and D’Arcy Kowtecky

We send our deepest condolences to Carolyn, Charles, Nancy and all the family on your dear father’s passing.
Lew was such a kind, quiet man who exemplified his Christian faith in all he did. When Bryan and I moved to Bridgetown many years ago, and joined Bridgetown Baptist Church, he was welcoming and took the time to say hello and chat each week, along with your mother, Dorothy. They were a lovely couple, and I had the privilege of being in a bible study with them for a couple of years also. When my father and mother would visit us in Bridgetown, your father always took the time to welcome them at church, as Lew and my father had worked together on occasion in the Dept of Agriculture.
Lew served on numerous boards/committees in the church over the years and was respected for his knowledge and integrity. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Sending prayers for God’s peace, strength and comfort as you grieve. Shirley and Bryan

I love this picture of your dad - he never really changed. He was such a kind, quiet, gentle man. Both he and your mom made such a lasting impact in so many, through their faithful teaching of the youth group, and making their home a welcoming haven in Grimsby. And that obedience to the Lord has impacted not only those people, but their children and grandchildren …. My family always appreciated the strawberries your dad grew - and the ham your mom made out of them! My dad looked forward to a jar of her jam, every year! Our prayer is that your good memories will help alleviate your human grief. Although Mr. Ricketson is rejoining today with Jesus, he will be sorely missed.

Dear Charles, Carolyn, Nancy and family, It is with sincere sympathy, love and prayers that I send from my home in Calgary, AB to yours and loved ones. Lew was a faithful friend and mentor to me during my minisrty in Bridgetown. My late wife Jane and I loved visiting Lew and Dorothy at the farm and sharing Christmas dinners on alternating years. We were blessed to receive varius produce from his garden and enjoy day trips to various NS locations. Lew was a quiet spoken man and will be remembered for his faithful service at Bridgetown Baptist Church where he served for many years on the Deacons Board and chaired the board on numerous occasions. He is gone now, but leaves us with precious memories of his love and care, His faith and perseverence through difficult times is an inspiration to all of us. Rest in Peace Lew as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ greets you with "Well done good and faithful servant," come in to your new home with me. George Neily
