Lutes, (Davis) Dorothy Anna- 98 of Bridgetown, passed away June 20, 2012 at home. Born in West Brook, Cumberland County, on December 20, 1913, she was the elder daughter of the late Burton and Annie (Mitchell) Lewis. Dorothy attended Acadia University where she obtained her B.A. in 1934, B.Ed. in 1967 and M.Ed. in 1970. In 1974, she attended a summer study - Danish Institute for Information Seminar on Scandinavian Education. She taught at schools in the Maritimes and was a former teacher at Bridgetown Regional High School. Dorothy belonged to the NSTU Retired Teachers' Organization. She was a member of the Bridgetown Baptist Church, a former Sunday school teacher and was involved in various church groups. She was an active member of golf and curling clubs in Nova Scotia and Florida where she received numerous awards. Dorothy enjoyed bridge, reading, travelling and had a passion for arranging flowers. She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Davis) Connelly (A.B.F. "Pete"), Kentville; Elizabeth (Davis) Rafuse (John), Ottawa; grandchildren, Heather (Connelly) Bennett (Sean), Falmouth; Scott Connelly (Alicia), Harleysville, PA; Jason Rafuse, Ottawa; Krista (Rafuse) Sheldrick (Brian), Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Alexander "Alex" and Jackson "Jack" Bennett; Candace and Corinne Connelly; sister, Sara Illsley, Halifax; stepdaughters, Carol Telvin (Tom), Toronto; Dawn Chaplin, Chester. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Davis (1962); second husband, Clarence "Ted" Lutes (1985); brother, Elton Lewis (1988). Visitation will be 7 -9 pm, Wednesday, July 4, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday July 5, 2012, in the Bridgetown Baptist Church, with Rev. David Cumby officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. George P. Allen. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. In lieu of flowers donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Bridgetown or Centrelea Baptist Churches or charity of choice. The family is very grateful for all the support of her friends and neighbours, especially Dorothy McIntosh and Bette Hall.
