Obituary of Marland Boyd Smith

On Sunday, December 31, 2023, Marland Boyd “Bud” Smith passed away at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. He was 90 years of age.

Bud was the son of Bruce Alvin and Claundine (Hodgson) Smith of County Harbour, Nova Scotia. He received his education in the schools of Country Harbour and New Glasgow. He worked several years in Ontario Following which he returned home and operated a service station in Antigonish with his brother, Bruce. After this, he joined the Department of Finance, working for the provincial government in Halifax until his retirement.

Bud was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and Philae Temple Shrine.

Bud is survived by his second wife, Doris, and stepdaughter, Rhonda Fox and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (Charlton) and son, Donald Bruce Smith; sisters, Wilma Gibson, Myrna MacPherson; brothers, Arden and Bruce Smith.
