Obituary of Melzena Fish

Please share a memory of Melzena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Fish, Melzena (Freeman) – 92, passed away December 15, 2023, at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.  Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace.  Born in Clementsvale, she was the youngest daughter to Robert and Gladys (Wright) Freeman, a sister to Freda Connell and Margaret Berry.  This is where she met her husband Billy Fish and they began their life together on the Fraser Road.  Melzena had a love for music and going out dancing with Billy, especially to one of her favorites, the Tennessee Waltz.   For most of her life she was a stay-at-home wife and mother where she raised their three children.  They were her whole world and she loved caring for them.  She was a member of the Clementsvale Friendly Club for many years where she would spend time quilting with friends and was also a member of the Good Neighbor’s Club. She enjoyed traveling to Florida and Bermuda to visit with family and friends, seeing the sites on several bus tours, and spending summer afternoons out at the lake with Laurence and Betty.  Those left to cherish the memories of her will never forget the smell of freshly baked bread when stopping in for a visit, beautifully decorated homemade cakes for every birthday, a half-knit dishcloth waiting to be finished, feeling her warmth while wrapped in a homemade quilt or crocheted afghan, but most importantly the love and devotion she gave to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She leaves behind son, Dale  and Daphne (Grant); daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Mackintosh; daughter-in-law, Coleen (Harris); grandchildren and Robert (Kim), Matthew (Sheila), Nicholas (Darian), Tyler, Miranda (Matthew); great grandchildren, Liam, Jack, Julia, Blake, Kaiden, Bryer, Charlii, Jaxson, Ellie, Layla; great-great granddaughter, Aria; nieces, nephews and friends.  She was predeceased by husband William “Billy”; son Wayne; grandson, Nathan; sisters, Freda and Margaret. A special thank you to Dr. Buchholz for his care over the years and to the staff of the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for your care and friendship while she resided there.  Cremation has taken place, under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.  A celebration of Melzena’s life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday January 6, 2024, in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.  Private family burial will follow. Donations in her memory may be sent to the I.W.K.
