Marilyn Lois O’Neal

1943-2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Lois O’Neal, 80, of Hampton at Mountain Lea Lodge in Bridgetown.  Marilyn was born on September 24, 1943 in Lyttleton NB to parents, Mary Louise and Russell Matchett. She leaves behind her daughter Kim (Charles) Purcell, son Matthew (Stephanie) O’Neal, grandchildren Adam (Alysha), Colin, Eric (Rebecca), Megan (Corey), Devin, Willow, Gideon and great granddaughter, Ymir, as well as brother Russell Matchett and sisters Dessie (Jerry) Christianson and Kay (Chester) Hyslop, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband Don, sons Kevin and Peter, brothers Eldon and Edward, and sisters Bella, Roberta (Birdie), Shirley, and Vinna.

Marilyn was a dedicated and loving homemaker who worked part time over the years as a Personal Care Worker, an Avon lady, and a mail carrier. She was a talented musician who loved playing the piano and guitar.  She was passionate about her music and enjoyed sharing it at jam sessions with friends and family in her home and at community concerts. Marilyn loved having a house full of people and pets. She enjoyed baking and decorating her home for all occasions and holidays, especially Christmas. In addition to their own 4 children, she and her husband Don fostered 16 others. Her bubbly, fun loving personality and jokes will be dearly missed by us all.

Following Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A visitation will be at 1pm until the funeral service begins at 2pm, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home in Bridgetown.  Pastor Steven Hopper will be officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Donations in Marilyn’s name, in support of her grandson Gideon, may be made to Haley’s Heroes Foundation (haleysheroesfoundation.networkforgood.com).
