Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On November 24th, 2023, John Leon Gerard Legere passed away peacefully at age 58, surrounded by his loving friends, family, and beloved dog Athena in Waldec, Nova Scotia. He was born on October 14th, 1965 in Oshawa, Ontario. He was a man known for his wit, kindness, and profound love for his family, music, and the open road.

He was devoted to his country and served for 17 years as a Naval Weapons Technician in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served on several ships including HMCS Fraser, HMCS Margaree, and HMCS Toronto. He then worked in the field of Subsea Engineering for 18 years. He greatly enjoyed the opportunity these careers provided to travel to all corners of the world including Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Ghana, Brazil, and Greenland. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for several years in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia at Station 50.

He was a proud member of the Bacchus MC and greatly enjoyed the brotherhood this provided. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing as a drummer in the local music scene in bands such as Alter Ego and One Lady Driver, and riding his motorcycles. Recently, he began to enjoy the farm life in Waldec, with great affection for baby birds including Tink and Little, and his horse Ari

He is survived by his loving partner Kelly Hicks; former wife Andrea Pearse and their daughters Emily and Brianna Legere; sisters Suzanne Legere, Gail Legere, and Laura (Legere) Stainton.

He is predeceased by his mother Estelle (Leblanc) Legere of Campbellton, New Brunswick and his father John "Leon" Legere of Atholville, New Brunswick.

John bravely battled a craniopharyngioma, a rare type of brain tumor, with levity and optimism. The family would like to extend special thanks to family physician Dr. Buchholz of Annapolis Family Practice, neurosurgeon Dr. Lownie of Halifax, and all of the healthcare team from 7.3 Neurosurgery at the QEII hospital.

There will be a Celebration of Life announced at a later date.
