Elizabeth Jean Magee (1940-2023)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our family's matriarch, Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Magee (nee Orde). She was born on March 5, 1940, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. She passed away after a brief hospitalization at Valley Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. After 83 years on this earth, she received her wings to walk with angels.

Betty is predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, Gordon Leroy Magee and her parents Lillian and William Orde. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy McIsaac (Greg) and son, Michael (Christie). She is also leaves behind eight loving grandchildren, Megan (Jimmy), Joseph (Emily) Matthew (Randi), Colton, Katie, Melissa, McKenna (Justin) and Kenny. She was also a great-grandmother to William, Kayden, Peyton, Maverick, Ella, Tripp, Sadie, Mia and Henry.

She enjoyed reading novels of great love stories. She spent many years as a teacher and principal in Nova Scotia and Ontario. She served her community by teaching and shaping the young minds in her schools. She was the treasurer of her church where her husband was a deacon. On sunny days, you could always find Betty outside tending to her garden.

Betty went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

It brings us comfort that she will be reunited with her life-long love, Gordon. We know she will be met with the open, loving and awaiting arms of love.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annapolis Royal.  Rev. Deborah Lonergan-Freake officiating.
