Obituary of Donald Elliott Cress

DONALD ELLIOTT CRESS 

August 28, 1928 to November 17, 2023 

Donald “Donnie” Elliott Cress – 95, Deep Brook quietly went to be with his Saviour on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Waldec, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Annie Cress. 

Donnie worked for many years at CFB Cornwallis Canex Store and was custodian at the Clements Consolidated School, Deep Brook. In his free time, he often mowed lawns and lent a helping hand to others.  

Donnie remained steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ. He lived out his faith by extending genuine care and interest in others, forging many lasting friendships and sharing the peace he had found.  

Donnie was married to his late wife Ethel (Selig) for 63 years. He leaves behind two daughters, Jo Ann MacDonald (Kevin) and Beverly Cress (Henry), his grandchildren Jillian Galbraith (Allan), Ryan MacDonald (Nicole), Melissa MacDonald (Eric), and Colin MacDonald (Kaylee), his loving brother Lionel Cress and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter Carolyn Cress and brothers and sisters Leonard Cress, Sidney Cress, Lottie MacAdoo, Ethel Gyer, Bessie Kilmister, Fannie Cress, Hazel MacDonald, Naomi Wright, Florence Parker, Clara Hersey, Ralph Cress, and Richard Cress. 

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home and to Dr. Ken Buchholz for their care during Donnie’s time there. 

Visitation will be held 2:00 pm from the Gospel Hall, Clementsvale, until service time at 3 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023, with John Meekin and David Cress officiating. Interment will be at the Clementsvale Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Gospel Hall, Clementsvale.
