Shelley Blythe Vaughan  1950-2023

Such a Wonderful Person

Shelley passed away peacefully at 8:15 AM Sept 17, 2023 while in the Digby NS Hospital, near her home in Port Royal, from a urinary tract infection. She was widely loved and respected particularly for her unfailing kindness and intelligence which she applied in theater, music, the Canadian Club and community organizations but most particularly in the complex world of sail racing where, beginning at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, she became a celebrated and influential local, national and international race officer and judge.

Kind, warm, charming, fun, beautiful, competent, way-smart, illustrious, engaging, flamboyant, radiant, sweet and unforgettable.

A wondrous spirit in an unhealthy body, most were not aware of her long and increasing struggles with various life-threatening conditions, chiefly liver disease. She died too young at 73.

Born in London Ontario to Ed and Mary Cox, she is survived by her husband Dr. Hague Hingston Vaughan of Port Royal NS; her son Alexander Douglas Macdonald of Victoria BC and his family the Taylor-Macdonalds (Megan, John, Benjamin and Emma); her brother Bruce Cox and his family (Pat, Tara, Lauren and Kala); and her sister-in-law Cornelia Molson of Montreal; and former husband Peter Macdonald of Vancouver

Her smiling face would glow with humour, warmth, kindness and mischief.  Many will miss her forever.
