Obituary of Arline Louise Porter

Please share a memory of Arline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother Arline Louise (Chute) Porter of Moschelle. Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 99, surrounded by her family’s love on June 19, 2023 at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home.  Even though it is hard to accept that we no longer will have the pleasure of her beautiful smile, her laughter would fill a room and her wittiness, she is now at peace. She was our ROCK.  Mom was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on May 12, 1924 to Eber and Helen (Gillis) Chute. Her parents came back to Nova Scotia when she was only two months old, settling in Phinney’s Cove.  She married William Porter on January 16, 1948 and settled down to raise her family. Mom was a stay at home mom who was very caring, loving, and compassionate. She enjoyed being at home with her children. With Mom’s love, patience, kindness and guidance we became the people we are today. Mom loved to cook, bake (especially birthday cakes and decorate them). Knit mittens and sweaters, play bingo and go to The Little Red Barn for an evening of music, dancing and playing cards at the Moschelle Community Hall. In the last 10 years when Mom was more confined to a wheelchair she enjoyed watching all the birds that came to the feeders outside her living room window.  Mom loved the family get-togethers and dinners. She loved the stories, laughter and fun we had around the dining room table, always adding a little bit of her wit, which always brought much laughter.  Mom aka Nanny P was the star of her Grandchildren. When the grandchildren would come to visit she would always have the Nanny P “special” Honey Nut Cheerios for them, and the grandchildren could not wait to get their little bowl of her special treat.  Mom was a member of the Annapolis Royal Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Moschelle Ladies Auxiliary.   Mom is survived by her children, Gerald (Gerry) & Pat Chute, Judy (Dave Day deceased), Sandra (Burt McNeil), Deborah (Edward Hannam deceased) and Donna (John Milner deceased); Grandchildren- Christopher, Gerry, Aaron (Jennifer), Kim (Leo) Murray (Krista) Denise (Paul) Alan (Klaissa); Great –Grandchildren- Lindsay, Hannah, Megan, Mia, Kayley, Kasandra, Emerson, Emma, Parker, Rylee, Joshua. And great great grandson – Kayden Porter; Chosen grandchildren- Sara Jost (Kevin) Axel, Marek and Lucien, William Jost (Mary) Peter and Alistair and Aiden McGowan. Sister in law- Phyllis Chute and son in law Danny Cronin, nieces, nephews and cousins.   Mom was predeceased by her parents Eber & Helen Chute, husband William Porter, Sister Vivian Chute, brothers Laurie (Tommy) & June Chute and Frank Chute. Her son Murray Porter, daughter Nadine Cronin and grandson Jason Spurr. Sons in law Dave Day, Edward Hannam and John Milner.  We would like to send a very special Thank You to Doctor Bucholtz and the staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for the  wonderful care of our mother.  Visitation will be held on Friday July 7th from 7-9 pm at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with a graveside service on Saturday, July 8th at 2pm, at the Harris Cemetery in Moschelle, with Rev. Julia Ford officiating. Followed by a reception at the Moschelle Community Hall.  Donations can be made to the Moschelle Community Hall 718 Hwy #201 Moschelle B0S1A0, or a charity of one’s choice.  On line condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
