Obituary of Russell Scott Ward

Ward, Russell Scott – age 82 of Bridgetown passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2023.  Born in Middleton on November 3, 1940, he was the son of the late Lester Ward and Pauline (Stoddard) Ward.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Jean (LeLacheur) Ward, their children Marianne (Dell) Patten, James (Jennifer), Bruce (Kelly) and Joy (Ron) Stewart.  He also leaves to mourn his passing grandchildren Nancy (Greg and great grandson Finlay) Armstrong, Jamison (Kaila and great grandson Griffin), Ross, Gavan, Amelia, Izabel, Raygan, Ryan, Dylan, Ethan, Logan, Maddie and Owen; brother Gordon and sister Marlene.   Russell was an avid supporter of his family, helping them achieve their many varied pursuits and interests. 

Russell attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and received his degree in Animal Husbandry from MacDonald College, Montreal in 1963.  Russell and Jean along with Gordon established Homtosta Holsteins, Upper Granville in 1966.  The farm celebrated many successes in the show ring not only for themselves but for the many who purchased Homtosta breeding stock.  Possessing a strong work ethic and a keen interest in politics and current affairs he was involved in many community and provincial organizations. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Funeral Home, Bridgetown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.  A celebration of life for Russell will be held at Windgate Farm, Upper Granville July 3, 2023 at 2 p.m, Herb Anderson officiating.
