DAVIES, Brian Peter Crofton, of Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully on 11th May 2023 with his beloved wife Valerie by his side. Born in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset England, he was the eldest son of the late John Crofton and Marjorie Joan (McLintock) Davies. Peter was the Annapolis Royal Town Crier for over twenty years and a familiar face in the community. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Town Planning and a Masters in Architecture at the University of Liverpool in England in 1963 and worked for the City Planning Department, Community of Everton, District of Liverpool. In 1967 he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two daughters to work for the Central Mortgage & Housing Commission (CMHC) in Ottawa Ontario, and then at the firm Strong, Lamb and Nelson Engineering Company in Calgary Alberta where his son was born. In 1972 he relocated the family back to Ottawa to work for the National Capital Commission and ten years later moved to Regina Saskatchewan to work for the City of Regina as Head of Urban Design. He had his own renovations company Special Additions of Regina, and then in 1990 moved to Annapolis Royal, NS to work for the Annapolis District Planning Commission. Peter enjoyed the local heritage projects and designed many renovations including historical buildings. He belonged to the Annapolis Basin Community Band playing the trombone, and enjoyed listening to pipe organ music. Peter also enjoyed painting watercolor pictures of the local area. He joined the Boating Association and found his voice selling hotdogs at the market to earn funds for building a special wharf. Peter took great delight in his role as Town Crier for Annapolis Royal and area for the next twenty years. He felt there should be a clock at the town hall, so he initiated the fundraising to make it happen. Now there are two clocks with chimes. Peter was a steam train enthusiast who loved to ride the rails. For his 75th birthday he had a steam train footplate experience at Bishop Lydeard, England where he was able to learn how to drive a steam train on the West Somerset Railway. Peter is survived by his wife Valerie Margaret (Surgenor) Davies; children Sally (Derrick) Davies, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA; Ruth Davies, Amesbury, England; Andrew (Teresa) Davies, Richmond BC; and grandchildren William Loewenhardt, Glasgow, Scotland; Rachael Loewenhardt, London, England; Piper Early, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his younger brothers Jeremy Vivian John Davies, and Adrian Paul Richard Davies.
