Edwards, Lillian Gertrude - Karsdale

With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mom, Lillian, on April 6 at age 92.

Born November 1, 1930, she was the eldest child of Louis and Lillian Boudreau and grew up in Victoria Beach and Port Wade. In 1946, she married Alfred Edwards after he returned from the Second World War. The couple had 13 children, which mom devoted her life to raising. In her younger days, mom (aka “Gert” or “Boogie”) spent her free time Ski-Dooing, gardening, and reading. As “Lasso” and “Cowboy,” she and Alfie spent many hours on the CB radio, and were active members of the local CB club. She was a lifelong card player and country music fan. In her later years, Mom loved a good crossword – both the puzzle book and scratch ticket kind.

Lillian is survived by her children, Lana Henshaw (Ron, deceased), Bill (Ruby), Caroll (Dianne, deceased), Wayne (April), Donna Milner (Paul Whiteway), Debbie Turner (Alton), Kathy Zwicker, Janice Hebb (Jimmy), Brenda Edwards (Carl Boudreau), Alan/Butch (Carrie Swartsman), Randy (Annette), Kevin (Theresa Thompson) and Michael. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister Murtle Wheelhouse, and brothers Ronald, Richard, and Arnold Boudreau. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Alfred Edwards; grandchildren Johnny and Dolly; great-grandchildren Nathan and Ethan; brother Harry Boudreau.

Warm thanks to Dr. Ken Buchholz. To the staff at Annapolis Nursing Home, we will never forget the care and compassion shown to Mom and her family during this difficult time. Caregivers shared that Mom talked constantly how proud she was of her kids. Mom, we were the proud ones.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Monday, April 17, 2023, at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating.  Family flowers only, please. Burial to follow in Stoney Beach Cemetery. Donations in Lillian’s memory can be made to the Canadian Lung Association (https://www.lung.ca/). On line condolences may be made by visiting www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
