Whelan, Kieran Alphonsus - 70. June 24, 1941 - May 1, 2012. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS, Kieran Alphonsus Whelan of Parkers Cove, NS, formerly of Colliers, Conception Bay, and Labrador City, NL. Kieran was the son of the late Nicholas and Gertrude (Murphy) Whelan. Besides his parents, Kieran is predeceased by stepbrothers, Stephen and Michael, stepsisters Bridget and Theresa and sister-in-law Mary. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Catherine (Kay) (Conway) Whelan, adoring children Sue Anne and her husband Blair Cooper and their sons Sam and Joe of Annapolis Royal, NS, Stephen and his wife Martica and their daughters Emily and Juliana of Doha, Qatar, Diana and her husband Mike Stead and their daughter Norah of Enfield, NS. Kieran also leaves to mourn siblings Nicholas (Madonna), Stephenville Crossing, NL, Francis (Noreen), Sydney, NS, Vincent, Toronto, ON, Helen (Stan McHugh), Marysvale, Conception Bay, NL, Mary (Ed Edmunds), Toronto, ON, Betty (Bill Wall), Colliers, Conception Bay, NL. Kieran started his working career in Manuels, NL, but spent most of his working life in Labrador City, NL. He and Kay retired to Parkers Cove, NS, in 2005. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Visitation will be held Thursday May 3rd, 2-4 and 7-9 at Kaulbach Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A celebration of his life will take place Friday, May 4th at 11:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church, Annapolis Royal, with Father John MacPherson officiating. Kieran enjoyed the simple things in life.
