Obituary of Kathleen Gloria Sanford

Please share a memory of Kathleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathleen (Kay) Sanford, née MacKenzie,  passed away peacefully at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home on November 29. She was 94 and is survived by her daughter Linda, and sisters Francis (Cape Breton) and Laura (Ontario).

In addition to spending her early life in Nova Scotia, Kay lived in Winnipeg and Germany before she and husband Clyde fully retired to Clementsvale in 1970. Kay was extremely active in her community, especially the church, and always referred to herself as a “doer.” She went with friends on several bus trips, traveled with her daughter, and when at home, participated in a wide range of activities. Before she went into the nursing home at 90, she was a regular (and the oldest) line-dancer with the Fundy Steppers

. Kay loved her home, and on any nice summer day would be outside mowing, tending to her flowers, or relaxing with a cup of tea.  She was a wonderful, generous, and strong-willed woman. She never held anything back and you always knew what was on her mind. Kay was loved by many, will be missed by all who knew her, and remembered for her ever-positive outlook. When presented with bad news- no matter how dire, she would think for a moment and say, “maybe something good will happen.”

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday December 5, 2022 from the Clementsvale Baptist Church with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clementsvale Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home for Kay's service.
