Obituary of Aileen May Potter

It is with sadness hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Aileen May (Schofield) Potter, at the age of 92, formerly of Clementsvale, in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, August 29, 2022. Born in White Rock, February 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Florence (Blair) Schofield.

Aileen grew up in the White Rock/Wolfville Area and had a love for horses and painting. As a young mother, she travelled to Germany with her late husband, who was in the Armed Forces. In 1966, they settled in the homestead in Clementsvale where she spent her life until she entered the Nursing Home.

Mom was outgoing and a member of Clementsvale United Baptist Church. She enjoyed her weekly outings with the friendly club, strawberry suppers and raising funds for the church vestry. She was also an Awana youth group leader, as well as the boy scouts.

Aileen was a very crafty person, as there was always a quilt on the go. Some of which have gone across Canada.

She was always going to arts and crafts shows with the late Florence Wolfe. Her phentex Slippers and mittens were always in high demand. She also knit and darned socks for 16 years for the Fort Anne and Habitation Historic sites for their Staff.

She has made numerous trips a crossed Canada to visit family and a trip to Florida, with her friend Florence.

Aileen is survived by her son, Brian (Kathy), Lequille, Terry (Sharon), Princedale; daughter, Cheryl Potter Delaloye (Lindsay), Clementsvale; grandchildren, Melissa Potter, Dareth (Hugh)Troop, Michele (Scot) Fraser, Marianne (Ben) Burnie, Mitchell (Stephanie) Potter; great grandchildren, David, Chloe, William, Jocelyn and Molly; Cheryl's step chidlren and grandchidlren; sister, Roxy Bell, Westphal; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy; son in infancy, Charles; siblings, Marguerite (Dave) Johnson, Doris (Howard) Hiltz, Norma Woolcock, Ethel (Paul) Fraser, Hollis Schofield; brother in law, Ken Bell. A special thanks to the staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for their loving care and respect shown to our Mom.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A Celebration of life will be held 2pm Monday, September 5, 2022, from the Clementsvale United Baptist Church, with Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Clementsvale Cemetery.
