It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother Arlene Gertrude (Blades) Featherstone passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS. Born on Oct. 17, 1925, to Charles and Louisa (Nickerson) Blades of East Pubnico, NS, she was the youngest of 9 children. Mom had a happy childhood growing up on her parents’ farm. When she was 17, she moved to St. Stephen, NB, where she eventually met and married our dad, George Featherstone. Mom went to work at the cotton mill in Milltown, NB, and eventually began work at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, where she worked until she retired in 1967. Mom enjoyed knitting, doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. At the age of 84, she went white water rafting in BC, with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson! She was always up for an adventure! Mom especially enjoyed family get togethers and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and even a few great, great grandchildren. She also loved her church family and enjoyed our Tuesday morning ladies ministry time. She was often the life of the party and she loved to laugh. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Lila (Ernie) Lord, Leverville, NB; Bill of East Arlington, NS; Jean (Lawrence) Sabean, East Arlington, NS; Shirley (Terry) Parsons, Lawrencetown, NS; and Connie (David) Graves, Mount Rose, NS. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff) Roy, Beth (Leslie) Kovacs, Christine (Peter) Wile, Rosanne (Kevin) Grant, Lori Damon, Brent Damon, Robert (Heather) Graves, James Graves, Tina (James) Batson, Warren (Mary) Sabean, Wade (Vanaja) Sabean and Glen (Tracey) Sabean. Also, 31 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by former husband, George, sisters, Rena, Ethel, Olive, Gladys, Bessie, Edith and brothers, Ralph and Floyd, nephew, Doug, 2 nieces, Annil and Patsy and grandson, Keith Damon. Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Living Word Fellowship, Beaconsfield, with Rev. Jack Skafte officiating.  A committal service will take place at a later date. On line condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
