Obituary of Norma Grant

Surrounded by the love of family, Norma Grant passed away April 12, 2022 at Valley Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Norma was born in Halifax, NS on Jan 6, 1940 to the late Wilfred and Bessie (Giles) Sitland and is survived by her husband, and the love of her life, Ronald. During their 57 years of faithful companionship, they enjoyed many memorable trips and square dancing together. From their home in Annapolis Royal they lovingly raised their two daughters, Susan (Mark) Hoare, Kentville, and Carolyn (Scott) Longmire, Granville Centre. Family was the foundation of Norma’s life. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Anthony, Bradley, Lauren, Emma, and Ally. An aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of them special to her. She is survived by her sister in law, Glenda. Norma was the youngest of 6 children, and was predeceased by sisters Vera (Will) Cullen, Eileen (Keith) McMahon, and Jane (Paul) Morehouse; brothers Raymond (Betty) and Wilfred Sitland and sister in law Frances (Allen Carrie , George Ritchie) Norma was a selfless caring woman and volunteered for many organizations and was an avid advocate for numerous worthy causes, including the Cancer Society, Annapolis Hospital Auxiliary, Annapolis West Health Foundation, The Red Cross and St. Luke’s Anglican Church. Norma was a tireless worker who believed that volunteerism is the thread that binds a community together. Funeral Service to be held May 7, 2022 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church at 2pm. with Rev. Nita Barteaux officiating. Interment will be at a later date. The family requests that everyone wear a mask. Family Flowers only.
