Obituary of Marjorie Ruth Marshall
Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marshall (Rent), Marjorie Ruth - 95 of Bridgetown passed away in Mountain Lea Lodge with family by her side. Born December 28, 1926 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late William and Sadie (Burgwin) Cole. Our Mom grew up in Halifax and worked at Sears and Moir’s Chocolate Factory before marrying our Dad. After Dad’s tragic and untimely death in 1966, she returned to the workforce and was employed with United Elastic and later in the dietary department of Mountain Lea Lodge for many years. Above all, Mom loved her family and cherished family times with the many potlucks and get-togethers which would bring much laughter.
She was devoted to her church and was a member of the ladies’ auxiliary holding various positions, an avid gardener (both flower and vegetables), and enjoyed playing the guitar, lawn bowling, bowling and curling; competitive in play. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting family who lived away.
She is survived by sons: Gary (Sharleen Bulmer), Fredericton, NB and Michael of Beaconsfield; daughters, Sharon (Jim) Ashley of Wiarton, ON; Carol (Roger) Walker and Elizabeth “Betty” (Blaine) Bent both of Beaconsfield and Marilyn (Don) Kaulbach of Carleton Corner; daughter-in-law, Nancy, Bridgetown; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gloria Sullivan and sister-in-law, Marg Cole; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Rent; second husband, Ronald Marshall; son, Terry Rent; grandson, Ronald Walker; great grandson, Michael Syliboy; brothers, Robert (Rita), Gerald (Lona), Ronald Cole; sister, Joan (Cyril) Purcell; brother in law, John “Ina” Sullivan.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Sunday from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Monday from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Bridgetown with Father John MacPherson officiating, Burial will follow. Funeral service will be live streamed. Due to Covid restrictions, we recommend that masks be worn. Family flowers only. As our Mom was very community-minded, if one so chooses, donations in her memory may be made to the Mountains & Meadows Fund or the Bridgetown Area Community Fund. Please see the funeral home’s website for information on how to donate. On-line condolences may be sent to www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
