Lewis Richard Rice – Lake LaRose
After several years of illness, Richard Rice passed away as he wished, sitting by the picture window looking out at the beautiful Lake LaRose on January 18, 2021. He sat here daily, watching the abundance of birds and squirrels and other wildlife play in his front yard. He loved feeding them and watching their antics. He moved to Pennsylvania with his parents when he was four and lived there until his retirement, working in the flooring industry (Union Local 623) in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Rich was a gregarious guy who loved football which he played in high school and he closely followed the Philadelphia Eagles with his sons. Riding his motorcycle gave him much pleasure and he greatly enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and many friends. He retired to his mother’s house on Lake LaRose in 2003. He was the son of the late Gertrude Elizabeth Todd Rice (Whitman, Allen) and Aubrey Leroy Rice of Lake LaRose. He married Ruth (Frick) and they had three much loved sons, Dean (Sydney), Mark (Alyssa) and Glen (Karen); seven grandchildren, Talia, Tyler (Dean), Danny, Cole, Connor (Mark), Ryan and Kaitlyn (Glen); niece Deanna Rice of Dundas, Ont. He was only four years older than Deanna so both she and Jerry thought him more a big brother rather than an uncle. He was full of fun and caring to them. He was predeceased by his big brother 16 years older, Malcolm Rice (Inez) of Round Hill; son, Dean; nephew, Jerry Rice. His laughter and jokes are much missed. This notice is much delayed due to COVID 19 and having family in both Canada and the USA. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome.com
