Denton, Betty Jean, 79 of Little River, Digby Co. passed away unexpectedly Feb. 14, 2012. Born in Tiverton, she was a daughter of the Boar's Head Lighthouse Keeper, the late Earle and Kathleen (Thurber) Leeman. Betty was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Normal College. She taught in various schools in Digby County throughout her career and enjoyed her students immensely. Betty was predeceased by her parents and a sister Jean Ruby in infancy. She is survived by daughters, Robyn Denton (Brian Shorey) of Granville Ferry; Susan Denton (Aldin McRae) of Edmonton, AL; Donna (Rickey) Harnish of Rossway; granddaughter, Briana Shorey - "Love you MORE!!"; sisters, Joyce (Joe) Ratto of Stillwater Lake; Margaret (Richard) Moncur, Windsor, ON; brother, Jack (Judy) Leeman of Great Village; several nephews and a niece. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. By Betty's request there will be no visitation or service and interment will be in Tiverton Cemetery with immediate family. However, the family will host a celebration of Betty's life for family and friends at her home, 130 Little River Road, Little River, Digby Co. on Saturday April 7, 2012 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Donations in Betty's memory may be sent to the Tiverton Super Seniors Club, Islands Historical Society or Little River United Baptist Church.
