Mailman, Walter LeRoy - 83, of Lequille, Annapolis County, passed away February 13, 2012, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lake LaRose, he was a son of the late Howard and Violet (Ritchie) Mailman. His passions in life began with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always gave him great pleasure and he played his role well as a "grampy". He was always ready with a smile and a greeting to anyone he met in the stores or on the streets of Annapolis Royal. As a store keeper and later as a car salesman, Walter knew everyone in town and made many new friends at the antique car shows where he displayed his other passion of antique cars. Growing up on a farm, he developed a passion for horses and all other farm animals keeping several different kinds over the years. The apple of his eye over the past three years has been his little four legged friend, Jake. He is survived by son, Richard (Eloise); daughter, Sandy (George) Oikle; grandchildren, Nicole (Lee) Kearnes, Ryan (Tanya) Mailman, Erin, Dustin, Morgan and Brandon Oikle; great grandchildren, Hayley and Aiden Kearnes; Sara, Dustin and Clinton Mailman; sisters, Joyce Ferguson and Shirley Jaffe; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise (Hatt) Mailman; brother, Beverly. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. No visitation by request. A Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m Saturday March 3, 2012, in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal with Canon Ken Vaughan officiating, assisted by Rev. Ruby Todd. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to "The Lodge That Gives" 5826 South St, Halifax N.S. B3H 1S6
