Dear Shawn, Terry, Kelly and family; Jane joins me in sending our sympathy, love, and prayers in France's death. We have such fond memories of her and can never forget seeing her standing on the stool in the church kitchen stirring the big pot of Turkey a la King with Joan Hall keeping watch for her safety. She was a faithful member of Bridgetown Baptist Church and dear friend. Her family was "the apple of her eye." Rest in peace Frances, as you hear the words of Jesus, "Well done, good and faithful servant." George and Jane Neily, High River, AB.

To the family of Frances Saunders, so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Frances and her boys very clearly, as a young girl while making my way to the pool and then when my folks lived across from the pool. Her beautiful smile and keen sense of recollection/knowing preceded her. She will be missed I’m sure! Please accept our heartfelt condolences!

Before our family moved away, my sister Wendy and I lived across the street from Frances and Jim Saunders. Our mother was a good friend of Frances' and they regularly had coffee together and visited back and forth. My sister treated Frances' home as if it were hers and spent a LOT of time across the street chasing around three little rapscallions. Frances taught me how to make pie pastry and bread. She was a wonderful cook. We tried to eat there as often as we could.
Last fall, my husband and I made a quick trip to Bridgetown and as luck would have it, Frances was out putting up decorations when we passed by. We had a sweet reunion on the sidewalk and Frances reminded me of the time when she had first moved to Freeman Street and my sister Wendy and I accosted her and told her that we didn't like her because she married Jim and took him away from all us kids on the block and who was going to play ball with us now?? Frances laughed heartily and assured us that Jim would still be allowed to play ball in the field. And so, we had to love her! It wasn't hard to love her.
She was honest, forthright and kind and I will miss her sense of humour, among other things. My sincere condolences to the boys and their families.

Nancy and I thought the world of Frances. We admired her and respected her. She was a pillar of the community. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a strong woman with strong moral values. You always knew where you stood with Frances. One heck of a mother and one heck of a business woman. Sincerely, Mike and Nancy

I am saddened to hear of Frances’s passing. Bridgetown has lost another great person.
My children attended Saunders Nursery where they got a wonderful start to learning snd socializing.
I will miss seeing her on her many walks to town. Even though she was small in stature, she was mighty in every way!

Shaun, Terry, Kelly and families, sincere sympathy to you all on Frances' passing. I haven't lived in Bridgetown for 46 years but remember Frances & Jim as wonderful people.... in fact, I think my Dad cut Jim's hair. Although you were very young when I left, Shaun, I can remember you vividly in my mind and I do remember Terry & Kelly by name but not sure how old you were when I left. Your Mom will be remembered by many for her kindness and smiles. God bless you all at this very difficult time in your lives.

Growing up on Freeman Street there were the Spurr girls and the Saunders boys. Our mom worked outside the home so we all had to be in earshot of Frances. We played in all of the neighbours’ backyards, Mrs. Covert’s veranda, the pool and the school playground, but we had to be able to hear Frances call us home. I remember when the new house was built and we were even allowed to play among the builders with me even ending up with a nail in my back. She was our second mom, our nurse, our cook, and our secret keeper. She baked for all of our special events – one being a boiled icing cake for a surprise visit to our teacher’s house. I can’t remember her ever saying, “No.” There were puppet shows in the backyard tent, sleepovers and later parties in the basement. She put up with a lot from all of us. Later in life, she threw my baby shower and always welcomed Shelby and I for a visit. Frances supported me in my sewing business as long as I could make house calls because she was so busy with the Rest Home. Did you notice there has been no mention of hockey or ball and can you believe it, she never held it against us. For the last 53 years, Frances contributed in positive ways to my life and hopefully she knew how much she was appreciated. Thank you for sharing her with all of us, thinking of all of the Saunders boys and their families - our sincere condolences.

Sending our deepest condolences to all the Saunders gang. We have so many lovely memories of your mom and dad. Their welcoming ways to all the boys and girls you drug home. They always made all us local kids welcome, and teased us to the fullest! Your beautiful mom, how she ever withstood all you boys, and your sports, and sticks and weights. But she loved every minute. I always remember looking for her when I walked in your home or the rink. She might have been small, but she was determined and a fierce soul. May you be blessed in your beautiful memories of your beautiful mom. Sending our love,
Allie and Greg
