Maurice, Raymond Jr. and family,
Just wanted to let you know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I will always remember your mother for her warm smile, big heart and her giving, caring way. Her love for your father and the two of you did not go unnoticed. I know she was very proud of you all and you were both proud to call her your mother. I did not see her often of late, but when I did, I would see that smile and feel all the love that she would send my way. There was no pretending with Edna! What you saw was what you got! She was a very good neighbor. When our family house was lost to fire I was blessed to have stayed in your home. Edna treated me as one of her own. I have never forgotten that. She was definitely one of the best! She will be missed but not forgotten. Your family will continue to be in our prayers. Love Mike & Tracy

My heart hurts and the tears roll. The very last person from my parent’s generation of my Granville Ferry childhood home had left us. Our Edna is now resting in the arms of our Jesus. Though our tears flow and our hearts ache, we know that she is at peace and she has earned her rest. My family was very blessed to have Edna and Raymond as neighbors. The crooked, beaten path from our house to theirs is no longer visible, though we still see it and hear the slapping of our kid feet as we ran back and forth to visit, borrow, to have “our hair done”, and hope she would give us some cookies or whatever that wonderful smell was in her kitchen. God richly blessed us with having Raymond, Edna, Maurice and Raymond Jr. as our neighbors. Edna was so full of love and laughter. She was a woman who loved family, was always so generous, cared about all people, She played baseball, she kept our secrets, she loved babies, showed us how to dance, she did our hair. She was such a big part of our Granville Ferry years. When your family left Granville Ferry, it was the end of our community. It was never the same. Please know that Edna was loved probably more than she realized. Our hearts ache for Maurice, Raymond and their spouses and families. To Edna's sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews ... I hope you find comfort in the words expressed. We feel the pain and pray for healing and blessings of love for you all. From our hearts to yours. Shirley E. Parker.

I think of all the fun times we had as friends. Your lively Spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew and love you.
You can rest easy now because GOD said it was time to come home and be with your family.
I know you are looking down and smiling at all the wonderful things your family said and done for you before you left us.
May your family and friends find comfort in the love and support being sent to them to comfort them in their time of loss.

Maurice and Raymond and family members,
We are sending our condolences to you on the great loss of your mom Edna. On hearing of Edna's death I was reminded of my childhood and I recalled some memories of living next door to her. Over the years we had made a path going from our back door and leading to hers. We were always welcome at her house and many times would appear with an empty cup with the hopes of her filing it up with whatever we were short of at our house and if she had it she gave it freely without ever complaining. I remember her buying rabbits and making a cage and raising them for awhile and also keeping a tank with little turtles in it. One thing I know is Edna had a big heart and behind that tough exterior you might sometimes see was a kind, caring and sweet person. The last time I saw Edna was at my mothers funeral and she gave me a big comforting hug. Maurice and Raymond I am sure that Edna was so proud of your accomplishments and of the good men that you both became. I pray that all the good memories that you carry of her will comfort and strengthen you in the days to come. Sending love.

Hebrews 13:16 “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” If you were a poor family in Granville Ferry in the 1960’s and you lived next door to Edna Parker you would be very fortunate to have her as your neighbor. We were that family and I cannot count the cups of sugar, squares of butter or cans of milk that we “borrowed” from her over the years. Edna did not have a whole lot herself but what she had she shared with us. She gave freely, without hesitation and not expecting anything back. She was the kindest and most generous and caring person I had ever met. I didn’t see a lot of Edna after leaving Granville Ferry but I know from all the posted memories that she remained that same person throughout her life. She lived the Bible definition of what it means to be a neighbor. Our loss is truly Heaven’s gain. My sympathy and condolences to her sons Maurice and Raymond Jr. and her sister, Ethel and all her other sisters and brothers.
