Phyllis Elizabeth Oakes, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on February 2, 2021. Born in Middleton on January 28, 1933, she was the beloved daughter of the late Florence and Wallace Turner. Phyllis was the sparkle in her families’ lives. She loved spending time with family and friends. Later in life she especially enjoyed weekend visits with her daughters and sister. Phyllis loved anything and everything that sparkled and always had room for “one more pair of earrings”. She enjoyed watching her soap operas, animals, trips to Frenchy’s and getting her hair done. Phyllis is survived by her four loving daughters, Pam Turner (David); Brenda Connell (Dwight); Patricia Tompkins (Arthur) and Elizabeth Caldwell (Derek); sister, Helen Oickle. She loved her role as “Grammie” to her 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her first husband Alfred Oakes; life partner Robie Fralick and sister Joyce Crocker. Due to Covid 19 restrictions a celebration of life and burial will be held in Torbrook Mines at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
