Sabean, Gerald Kenneth “Jerry” – 69 of Port Lorne, Annapolis County, passed away on October 25, 2020 in Valley Hospice, Kentville. Born on June 1st, 1951 in Middleton, to the late Claude and Constance “Connie” (Lewis) Sabean. He worked as a carpenter and foreman for Roscoe Construction for 27 years after which he began his own general contracting business and cabinet making. He was also a founding member of the Port Lorne and District Volunteer Fire Department, where he continued to serve for 44 years. Jerry was well known for his joke telling and making people laugh as well as his big heart and love for all. Always there to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed deer hunting and had a huge soft spot for many pets over the years. Gerald is survived by his wife of 47 years Darlene (Fowler); daughters Tanya (Paul) Foster of Hampton and Tabatha (Dave) Carlson of Halifax; granddaughter, Briana Foster (Robbie MacEwen) of Prince Edward Island; grandsons, Kody of Ontario and Jeffrey Carlson of Halifax; brother, Vance (Marcy); sisters, Beverly (Mark) Durling; Mary (Wayne) Fowler and Joann Plehn; sister-in-law, Brenda; numerous nieces and nephews; and Aunt Vivian Johnson. He was predeceased by parents; daughter in infancy, Tammy Lynn; brothers, Gary and Vincent. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing will be followed. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Thursday, October 29th in the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, with a Firefighter’s Tribute service beginning at 7 pm. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, October 30, 2020 in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne with Rev. Stephen Wade officiating. Darlene, Tanya and Tabatha would like to extend a special “Thank-you” to the doctors and nurses on Medical Ward A and the security staff at Valley Regional Hospital as well as Dr. Burgess and the staff at Valley Hospice, Kentville. Donations in Jerry’s memory may be sent to Alcoholics Anonymous, Bridgetown and Middleton or Port Lorne and District Volunteer Fire Department.
