Obituary of Joyce Lavaughan Longmire

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With heavy hearts, the family wishes to announce the passing of Joyce Lavaughan Longmire, 88 of Hillsburn, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, who went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 14, 1931 the daughter of the late Jay Willard Halliday 1899-91 and Glenola Adeline Halliday, wife of 39 years to the late Howard Maxwell Longmire, son of Gordon Edward Longmire 1901-1989, wife Grace A. Halliday (Longmire) 1908-1998. Joyce was a longtime member of the Hillsburn Baptist Church and later, the Beacon of Hope in Litchfield. She truly loved her Lord and Saviour and spent much of her time in fellowship with other believers. Mom thoroughly enjoyed being active in her community, as well as the many other ways she met countless friends in 4H, camping, sewing club, socials, square dancing, and spending the time of her life in gardens. The family cottage she and her late husband Max built in 1969 was a very dear place to her and her family over the years. She was deeply proud of her children and their families and always enjoyed keeping up on all of their activities. Her charisma, quick wit and charm was endearing to many. Mom loved and was forever grateful for family visits and getting together for potlucks. She loved creating pottery, a hobby she so enjoyed in her earlier days, knitting wool socks for her family along with countless others, the famous dishcloths tucked in a gift, quilting, enjoying bird-watching from her sunporch, (especially the Cardinals), along with caring for her flower gardens and her little pond. She is survived by eldest son Dale Longmire (Sheila Miller) Stacey Longmire (Peter Brittain, deceased), Lori Longmire (David MacIntosh) and Brodale Longmire (Bria LeBlanc); son, Roger Longmire (Lynn Robinson) Grace-Lyn and Maxwell; son, Gregg Longmire (Kim Buchanan), Kyle (Erica Dodge), Ian (Chaylene Sarty), and Bruce (Bree Bishop); son, Scott Longmire (Carolyn Grant) Lauren, Emma, and Ally. Mom was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Isabelle (Belle), Adeline (Addy), Reece, Lincoln, Finley, and Mason. Mom treasured her family times awaiting our daily visits. The door would open and soon there would be the daily check-in, often with a coffee and molasses cookie to follow. To hear the little footsteps of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren was a most precious gift. She will be deeply missed by her family, remembered and loved always.♥ Private Celebration of Life and Interment will be held in the Hillsburn Cemetery, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 am with Rev. Herb Anderson officiating. Donations in memory may be sent to the Beacon of Hope Church or Annapolis Community Health Centre. A private family fellowship will be held at the home of Joyce L. Longmire following the service. She is clothed in Strength & Dignity and she Laughs Without Fear of the future Proverbs 31:25
