Calvina 'Piggott' and my Mother were great friends growing up together in Centrelea. 'Cal' was secretary at BRHS for several of the years I taught there. We had a great understanding of each other. I loved her sense of humor. Facial expressions often said so much!

My memories of Cal and Ike involve years of warm greetings at their places of work, especially in the early days when cal worked, with my Dad, Arnie Jefferson, at Moir Motors and, later at the high school. I remember her kindness, quiet way and warm hospitality when we visited them at home. Cal make many contributions to the Bridgetown community. Our condolences go out to all of the family as you celebrate her life, and that of her dear brother. They personified the industry, steadfastness and stewardship of a very special generation! The news of Cal's passing has been a little slow to reach Winnipeg. Great memories of both Ike and Cal. My grandfather Carman Piggott owned the Esso station before Ike. My mother Jackie Piggott would take my brother and I to visit often as kids and that continued well into adulthood. "Can't I get you boys anything?" Sounds like Cal used that line often. Ike would offer us some wine, but wouldn't have any himself as he would say "that stuff will kill you", and his eye brows would go up and his mouth would open to laugh. Cal would shake her head. "Are you sure I can't get you boys anything?" Treats came out regardless. Perhaps that's why we kept returning. Miss them both but with fond memories.

To Dan and the rest of your extended family, sincere condolences on the loss of Calvina (Cal). Cal's smile was a welcome sight the few times I was sent up to the "principal's office" at BRHS. She had a quiet and steady way about her, and an ever-present smile. She was very capable and generous to help my Dad with the Sunday bulletin for the Baptist Church. She would come to the parsonage and get the Gestetner (circa '30's) duplicating machine going for Dad. She and Ike were a good pair and fine neighbours. John A.

Dear Cal,
I loved you in my high school years. You were the kindest secretary and I loved going in just to visit you. I wanted your job after you retired but that was not to be. You dear woman, you came to the open house for my new office (and house of dolls) in 1996 which I prepared to work my Certified Court Reporting business out of. I have always loved you. You and Ike were a wonderful couple. You, my dear, will be missed.

Cal and Ike will always be remembered as an inimitable couple who represented the best of life in the community of Bridgetown. Cal and my mother Mary were always great friends symbolized by their days at BRHS when Mum taught Music there and Cal was secretary. Like Cal, my mother was able to spend her last years at home with the huge support of VON Home Support. I am pleased that such a reference was included in Cal's obituary: may she rest in peace with Ike by her side.

Jane joins me in sending our sympathy, and prayers to the family and loved one's of Cal Jefferson. She was a dear friend and neighbor during our ministry in Bridgetown. Cal and Ike were very good to us and she was always willing to drive Jane in her truck to the Atlantic Baptist Women's Mission group(WMS) in Centrelea. It's true, she would always say "Can't I get you something ?" and of course I could never refuser any of her delicious treats. She was a wonderful cook. Rest in Peace, Calvina.

There was only one Cal. I remember seeing her smiling face in the office at BRHS when I had my job interview for a teaching position. I remember sitting in her kitchen enjoying raisin thins, ginger snaps, chocolate squares, and too many other treats to list.
I remember evenings spent with Cal, Ike, and Blanche. I remember shopping trips in Halifax. I remember, I remember, I remember. I am thankful for those memories.
With sincere sympathy.

Dear Billy, Calvin, Danny, Jimmy and all your families,
My heart was saddened to read of Calvina’s passing. She was such an integral part of our lives. Peter, Margaret and I spent many happy summers at the farm and up at Cal and Ike’s home being spoiled with her yummy ginger snaps, ice cream sundaes and Ike’s BBQ’s. They were always so good to us and Mom had a special friendship with Cal for almost 70 years. We will cherish those memories of Cal taking us every summer to B.A.S.H, the many laughs we shared and her genuine kindness. It is a rare when one thinks of another human being and simply smiles with happy memories and a heart filled with love.
Our love and best regards to all of you for your loss of a beloved sister and cherished Aunt.

Dear Bill, Calvin, Danny, and Jimmy,
I was so sad to see the passing of Calvina on Oct 1, 2020. The wonderful memories I have of her and Ike came flooding back this morning.
Calvina was always so kind to our entire family and always took a great interest in what was happening in our lives as we grew to be adults. The last time I saw her was a couple of years ago when she visited Mum at Christopher's home in Bridgetown. It was so good seeing them together and they were so happy to see one another.
I grieve that she and Ike are gone. It feels like a page of our lives has been torn from our book of life. I dont know many times Cal and Ike would have myself, Paul, and Margaret over for a BBQ, and we would love every minute of our time with them, and Ike teasing us and making us laugh.
Your family has always been an important part of all our lives and we are grateful to have had Cavin, Blanche, and Calvina and Bill in our lives.
I'm sending lots of love and hugs to you all, and hope you all remain safe and well.
Take good care of one another,
Peter Moreau

I first met Calvina when I was a student and she was the secretary of the High School in Bridgetown. I later got to know her better as a member of the Jean Sheridan Atlantic Baptist Women's group in Centrelea. Such a lovely, kind hearted woman, always soft spoken and willing to help in any way with any thing she could. She always had a positive attitude and it radiated out to others. Calvina, you will be missed. My sincere condolences to the family.
