Elaine has spoken of Doris' deep faith and her importunate prayer - like the widow in one of our Lord's parables when she set her mind to undertake for another's good, she would knock at heaven's door until her request was heard and the assurance of provision given. A wise and prudent woman, with keen discernment into the heart of a matter, I learned quickly to trust her spiritual insight and was slow to dismiss her considered opinion on matters great and small even if sometimes at odds with my own. Looking back, Doris reminds me a little of the prophet Deborah. You could count on her when things got tough; a stalwart soldier at the gate of house, home and parish. But what I especially loved about this strong, resourceful and hope-filled woman was her child-like wonder. Her ears attentive to the least whisper of a breeze, her eyes open to beauty of little things, she would (as I picture her now) always be composing her joy in New songs" to the Lord. Her contemplative life (Psalm 27.4) is among the many gifts she bequeathes to her family in her passing. May you all find great comfort in the thought of Doris, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, in the communion of all the Saints. Lovingly, Peter

Peter and I were saddened to hear of Doris’ passing. I have so many lovely memories of her from our ministry in the Parish of Bridgetown. She was firm in her faith and a witness to many and I for one, counted on her prayer support. We kept in touch now and then through Facebook. I will miss her posts. I especially loved her photos and updates on the weather! We will keep you in our prayers as you grieve this huge loss. Sending our love to all the family.

Our Memories of Doris Anne Hebb
Simply, Doris made you feel like you were a good person. She had the unique characteristic in that her faith and belief in people, like her family and friends, was something she always stood for. Oh, how she loved her family. She was so proud of their many accomplishments, how far they had traveled, what contributions to their jobs and their own families they were making.
Keenly, intelligent, a natural writer, she was interested in so many new advancements or environmental issues, her cell phone her new tool. She loved her house, a converted schoolhouse and the history and stories it exuded, the trophies of Buz’s successes proudly displayed. Her gardens were filled with flowers, and until recently, the rooster and the chickens also provided entertainment and were a source of learning for their grandchildren. “Wood ticks, beware, there’s a new cure for you!”
Very modest, Doris had about her a gentleness, a sense of fairness, a gratitude for what life could offer after hard work. She had a strong sense of right and wrong especially when it came to those that used their authority to demoralize or take advantage of others.
For those of us who knew her as a quiet presence, a woman who measured situations before stating how she felt, she will be so greatly missed. (And for us who live directly across the road- how will we ever know when to put the garbage out, or when to investigate what animals are coming too close to our house?) But for her dear family, is the knowledge she is still watching over them, and will be forever, cheering their progress, hoping they remember just how much they will always be loved.
With love,
Anne Pollett, Morris, Dustin and Declan Walker
