Dakin, Harriet Ruby - 83, of Annapolis Royal formerly of Clementsport, passed away peacefully with her daughter Cindy and grandson Joel by her side on November 23, 2011, in palliative care, at the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, Annapolis Royal. Born in Beaver River, Yarmouth County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna Belle (Pyne) Perry. She is survived by her loving family, son, Cecil (Ruth) Dakin, Owen Sound, Ontario; daughter, Cindy (Dean), Thibodeau, Hillsburn; grandchildren, Gordon, Mark, Lisa, Craig and Joel; great grandchildren, Andrew and Mackenzie Cook; Lily and Cayden Cox; sisters-in-laws, Dorothy Ellis and Merna Ellis; nearest and dearest family friend, Nancy. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred; son, Vernon; great grandchild, baby Craig Cook Jr.; brothers, Justin (Valora) Ellis, Charles (Dorothy) Ellis, Paul (Merna) Ellis and Merrill Ellis; sisters, Ina (William Nickerson), May Ellis, Evelyn (Vernon) Sollows and Ruth (Gerald) Doucette. In her younger years she was very much involved in things such as bowling, square-dancing, sewing circle and church activities. She was an excellent cook and loved to sew. Her cross-stitch pictures will forever be treasured by those of us who have them. We will remember her "Birthday cakes", they were the best. Her family was very important to her and we all made some wonderful memories to keep of her. In the past few years she very much enjoyed attending Hillsburn Baptist Church and the love of the congregation. In the past year she was living in the Florence Wolfe Wing of the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, where she finally found some peace and felt at "home" again, due to the loving kindness of the entire staff, with nurses that go above and beyond. In the end, she got to be home where she wanted to be. Thank you for making mom happy! In the end she enjoyed her "bingo", and relied on her bingo buddies to pick her upand they were faithful to her. Thank you Rita! We are blessed by mom being with our heavenly Father. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. No visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, November 26, 2011, in the Hillsburn Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Aitken officiating. Interment will take place in Maple Vista Cemetery, Clementsport. Donations in Ruby's memory may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, Annapolis Royal Nursing Home (Palliative Care) or the Autistic Society.
