Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Humphrey

Ruth Elizabeth Humphrey, age 97, passed away peacefully June 16, 2020 at Annapolis Royal Nursing Home with her daughter, Andree, by her side. She was born December 14, 1922 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Edgar and Bertha Kinghorn. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and caregiver who worked tirelessly providing shelter and a caring environment to many in need. She will be remembered for her strength in difficult times as well as her immense love of animals, especially her cats, dogs and her horse, Flame. Besides being an excellent cook, she had a green thumb that came in handy relying on fresh vegetables from her many large gardens and fruit trees she planted and grew herself. Ruth is survived by her children: Marjorie ‘Tootie’ Bowen, Linda Hebb (Earl), Ralph Secondcost (Mel), Wayne Secondcost (Lili), Johnny Bezoine and Andree Leveille. Also foster son Donnie Bougie. Grandchildren: Leslie Mason, Roy Humphrey, Nicole Warren, Timothy Hebb, Brittney Carty and Caitlin Secondcost as well as seven great- grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Roy Kinghorn, Ronnie Kinghorn and Gordie Kinghorn. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son Donald Mason, brother Edgar Kinghorn, sisters Marjorie Mason, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Mitchell, a great granddaughter in infancy and a special grandson Jordan Morgan. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A private, family only service, will be held Saturday, June 20 with internment to follow at Victoria Beach cemetery.
