Obituary of Arthur Gerard Goudreault
Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
February 13, 1933 - February 20, 2020. It is with great sadness we announce the death of Art Goudreault of Hampton, on the February 20th, in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton, following a stroke. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 64 years, Mona (Chute); his daughter-in-law, Jean and his grandson, Michael. He was predeceased by his children, infant daughter Sherry Lee, son, Robbie and most recently his older son, Terry. Art was born in Lakeside, to his parents, Arthur Henry Goudreault and Mary Elizabeth George and brought up in Halifax. His brother and sister died in infancy but he shared his childhood with a foster sister, Mary (De) Goudreault (Mead). Art joined the RCAF in 1951 and served for over 35 years. He and Mona were posted all over Canada and in Germany, beginning and ending his career as a Safety Systems Officer in Greenwood. Following his retirement he continued to dedicate himself to helping others, as a service officer in Royal Canadian Legion, as an active member of the Hampton Social and Recreation Society, and through his hobbies of repairing electronics and carpentry. Art was a quiet and retiring man; he had strong opinions, a love of learning and an insatiable curiosity. He was kind and generous to many and devoted to his wife Mona and family. Everyone who knew him recognized the twinkle in his eye, which accompanied his understated sense of humour. He will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Kentville Valley Regional Hospital and Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank neighbours, friends and extended family for their ongoing kindness and support. A private cremation has been held and a burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Hampton Cemetery c/o Donald Marshall, Hampton, NS B0S 1L0.
