Troop, Nettie Louise of Paradise formerly of Granville Ferry passed away November 11, 2011, in Valley Regional Hospital, with her niece "Krista Lynn" by her side. Nettie was born in Granville Ferry, on April 21, 1924 and was the eldest daughter of the late Viola (Baltzer) Gilliatt and Arthur Gilliatt. Nettie worked at Simpsons Order office and later at Eaton Order office and was the manager of the Town and Country Shoe store in Annapolis Royal. Nettie then worked at CFB Cornwallis in the Base Orderly Headquarters room from 1972-1992. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and a member of the United Church Women and a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. Nettie is survived by long time friend Norma Oliver and loving and devoted niece Krista Kennedy of Granville Ferry, as well as sisters, Audrey Durling of Granville Ferry; Helen (Lionel) Kennedy, Granville Ferry; Barbara Gilliatt, Paradise and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1976, and special friend David Milsom in 1983; sister Marion Longmire; brothers Stewart, Harold, Murray and Gordon in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Service and burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Woodlawn cemetery with Rev. James MacIntosh officiating. Following the burial a reception will be held in St. George and St. Andrew United Church, Annapolis Royal. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis community Health center, Annapolis Royal Fire Department or to Hospice and Palliative care center, Kentville. No flowers by request. Krista would like to send a special "Thank You" to Donna Hatt and staff of Grace Haven for all the wonderful care and love given to Nettie for the last four years.
