To Rena's Family, please accept my sincerest belated condolences on her passing. I found Rena at Mountain Lea while visiting there a couple years ago following her 96th birthday and continued to visit monthly. Rena was my first school teacher in Wilmot in 1948. Imagine my surprise when I found her there! She always had a smile. Gloria (Vidito) Troop, Wilmot.

Anyone who could call Rena their friend was abundantly blessed of the Lord. We will not soon forget her humility and her example of God’s Love to All.

A dear friend and sister christian is home at last.Rena was always the example of positiveness and enthusiasm. Ever the teacher, whenever she visited, it would not be long before she was teaching our children how to play dominoes or some manipulative skill. I recall one trip back to Victory blue berrying when a mother bear and her cubs came out to share the field with us. Rena was not much bothered but The Oakeses and I began working our way back toward the car. We shall always enjoy wonderful memories.Murray and Carol Baker

My thoughts go back to early 70's and the good times she and I shared as we taught side by side at MacDonald school in Middleton. Family was very important to her which often came across loud and clear as she told her stories .May the Lord encourage and strengthen you at this time. Joan Dobson

Miss Burrell was my teacher at Nictaux Falls. She also boarded at my Aunt Kay and Uncle Murray’s
She was a positive influence in my life. I remember her reading scripture and opening the class with the Lords Prayer
She was always ready to help a student
I did receive the discipline of the day but deserved it.

We had many fond memories of Rena growing up. We called her the “toonie lady”, as she would on occasion give us a toonie. I can’t help but think of the colourful crocheted blankets and her ‘Speaking’ dog that would bark out the syllables. -Rhoda Potter

I've helped Rena get into her house & unlock her door for her every Sunday afternoon after the services at the Gospel Hall. She would come and visit me and my family at our house often, we would invite her down for her birthday and she would visit us on Thanksgiving & Christmas Day, we would cook her supper every time she visited us. She has told us many stories during her visits, she would often bring up the school children she used to teach from all around. We have had good times with Rena. In her recent days, I would often pay visits to Rena in the nursing home where she would still be able to tell her stories like usual. My deepest condolences go out to her family and extended friends during this difficult time of grief and sorrow, R.I.P. Rena, you will be missed by many.
