Obituary of Velma Marie Keevill

Please share a memory of Velma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
.Velma Marie Keevill (Valeriote) Born, June 28, 1937 in Guelph Ontario Died, February 23rd, 2017 in her 80th year. What does her wind feel like? It feels strong and steady. Velma was raised in Guelph Ontario and built a life for her family in Nova Scotia. She started her work as a teacher after attending Loretta Abby in Toronto until her one true love swept her off her feet to begin a life of adventure, travel, and triumph. She was a fierce champion of her faith, her many friends and her large and ever growing family. In a career as a community leader she was a Commodore and a Commander. What does her sky look like? It is as bright and blue as her eyes. Velma had a magical sparkling way about her that connected people in celebration and joy. She was happiest with a house full of hungry friends, a kitchen overrun with teenagers, a table with boisterous conversation, elevated debate and lots of laughter. It was only perfect when everyone was there. What does her rain feel like? It feels warm and clean. She carried along a special travel companion for 55 years between Nova Scotia and Ontario, and 41 other countries. Bruce will miss her terribly but he will be surrounded by the love and attention of their four children; Brian (Cassandra) Keevill, Brenda (Rick) Fair, Christopher (Leslie) Keevill and Robert Keevill, their eleven cherished grandchildren; Jennifer, Michelle, (wee) Robert, Shaun, Emma, Liam, Meg, Laura, Joe, Prince Luc and the young Princess Tessa and three great grandchildren; Harmony, Jessica, and Taylor. Her younger brother John Valeriote, his wife Sherron and their children Noelle, John-David and Timothy will remember her dearly. As will her brother in-law, Graham Keevill, his wife Sandra and their children David and Lisa. Velma was blessed with wonderful parents who have passed ahead of her; Dr. Silvio Valeriote, Velma Moyer (Hammond-Valeriote) and Fred Moyer, all of Guelph Ontario. People in Guelph, Waverley and Annapolis Royal all mourn her passing today but celebrate a life that will be remembered and a fire that ignited us all. How is her ocean tonight? It is flat and calm and the sun is setting over the bay. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Fall River, Nova Scotia on Saturday March 4th, 2017 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at the Waverley Legion. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. These will be times that we can remember the joy. We would love for people to share their remembrances of her and in doing so there will be inevitable warmth, comfort and humour. This should not be a sad time. Velma would want us to remember her with a smile on our faces. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the community organization of your choice are preferred and appreciated.
