Obituary of Clara Ann Sabean

Sabean, Clara Ann 77 of Youngs Cove, Annapolis County passed into the presence of God on February 10, 2017 at the Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal after a battle with cancer that has lasted more than a year. Born in Middleton , she was the oldest daughter of the late Douglas and Alice Lewis. During her lifeline Clara worked at a number of jobs including 15 years at United Elastic Limited/Britex in Centrelea 15years at Lewis General Store in Parkers Cove, 2 summers working for “Grandma Gert” book sales in the Maud Lewis House at Upper Clements Park. She was an active member of Parkers Cove Baptist Church , and spent most of her life serving her Lord. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and as the secretary-treasurer of the Bayshore AWANA program for the 28 years that the program was run by her church. In recent years, Clara enjoyed attending the various Jam Sessions with Fred, and was even trying to learn to play the mandolin. Clara also loved camping, quilting, yard sailing, and spending time with her good friends. Clara is survived by her husband Fred; daughter Rosemary Banks of Youngs Cove, son Brian Rafuse of Bridgetown; step daughters: Sheryl (Brett) Hurrup and Sharon Dunsmore; step-sons: Christopher (Lori) Sabean and Jason Sabean all of Ontario; four granddaughters: Teanna (Sherwin) Doucette of Hillsburn, Terissa Rafuse of Halifax, Shyla Banks of Youngs Cove and Michaela Banks of PEI; brother Harry (Virginia) Lewis of Digby, and sister Judy (Roy) Austin of Upper Clements. She greatly loved her great grandson Dryden Doucette and looked forward to the birth of her second great grandchild being born later in the spring. Clara has been predeceased by her first husband Hilton Rafuse and brothers Robert, Stanley, Kenny and Michael. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the Parkers Cove Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff George and Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Parkers Cove. A heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and all the staff at ACHC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Parkers Cove Baptist Church Building Fund.
