O'Neal, Donald George - 84 of Hampton, Annapolis Co. It is with great sadness, Don passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on July 10, 1926, he was a son of the late George and Falyvilla (Foster) O'Neal. Don worked as a mail carrier for over 66 years and was the longest serving rural route driver in Canada. In his younger years, he enjoyed his horses, was a recognized marksman and an avid bowler. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing baseball with his children and snowmobiling. He was a gentle and loving man. He was always there to help out in any way he could. Also spent many years farming, something that he loved. He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn (Matchett); daughter, Kim (Charlie) Purcell, Bedford; sons, Kevin, Truro and Matthew, Kentville; brother, Earle (Harriet), Bridgetown; grandchildren, Megan, Devin, Adam, Colin, Eric, Ethan, Logan and Jayson; and many foster children. He was predeceased by son, Peter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Visitation will be held Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held 3pm, Sunday February 27, both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown with Rev. Barry Aiken officiating, assisted by Rev. Basil Pierce. Donations in Don's memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
