Wayne Bradford Young Sr. Obituary
Young, Wayne Bradford, 87 of Upper Granville passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Tiverton, Digby Co. on April 28, 1939, Wayne was the eldest son of the late Bradford and Hazel (Hebb) Young. He spent the majority of his childhood in the woods of Granville Ferry, where his love for fishing, hunting, and the outdoors began. As a teenager, Wayne joined the Royal Canadian Navy in the Gunnery Division from 1956-1958, based in Cornwallis and Stadacona. On July 5, 1958, Wayne was married to the love of his life, Helen (Powell) in Freeport, NS. They then moved to Toronto where they ran a successful Commercial Diving Business, Young & Forbes Diving & Marine Co. Ltd. While in Toronto, they started a family of 3 boys; Wayne M. Young of Upper Granville, Dale (Melissa) Young of Belleisle, and Kenneth (Tobi) Young of Bridgewater. Wayne and Helen moved the family back to the Annapolis Valley in 1979, where he spent his time farming, investing in real estate, and running Young Brothers with his 3 sons. Wayne spent a great deal of time fishing and hunting with his sons and various grandchildren; Ryan (Aimee) Young, Warren (Lindsay) Young, Jessica (Tyler) McKenzie, and Jason (Sophia) Young. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren; Olivia, Landon, Chex, Ky, and Salem. Family was the most important thing to Wayne, and he'll be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather (Buboo/Bub), and brother. He'll be missed as the patriarch of the family, who instilled the importance of hard work, honesty, and caring for each other. Wayne was predeceased by his beautiful wife Helen, brother Galen, and sister Anna. He is survived by his sisters Joan (Toronto), Greta aka "Sister" (Meaford), and Patsy (Oklahoma).
On behalf of Wayne, the Young Family expresses sincere thanks to the Nurses and Staff of Digby General Hospital for the care and kindness provided during his final days.
